Google June 2021 Core Update Rolls Out

Google has announced that their June 2021 Core Update starts rolling out today.

The announcement is welcome as well as being an interesting time for the SEO community. Google does not specify the nature of its periodic core algorithm updates, only advising that SEOs, webmasters and businesses follow their usual guidance.

In essence, Google makes regular, incremental changes to its search algorithms, the vast majority of which often go unnoticed.

However, every once in a while, a more fundamental change to their algorithms and systems is made which may have a more noticeable affect on the position of websites within the Search Engine Registration Pages (SERPs). This is when Google’s Search Liaison officer, Danny Sullivan, makes a public announcement to make website owners and managers aware.

The result of Core Updates can be variations in rank, leading to improvements and sometimes a drop in search engine rankings. This is entirely natural as Google seeks to improve the results it provides to users of its search engine.

Google is keen to point out that any potential drops are not penalisations, and that website owners have not specifically “done anything wrong” but the fluctuations are a natural re-adjustment of the index.
